"Whisper of the Gibbous Moon on the Day of Arafah" "The Celestial Symphony: The Moon of Arafat and the Unity of Creation in Divine Wisdom"

Whisper of the Gibbous Moon on the Day of Arafah

Dancing in daylight, a celestial show,

A mark in the sky, for all to know,

The gibbous moon, a silent herald true,

Announcing the Day of 'Arafah, for me and you.

With every phase, a story's told,

Of divine wisdom, and a love that's old,

The moon's soft glow, a gentle breeze,

A reminder of the unity that Allah sees.

In the heavens, a symphony so fine,

The celestial bodies, in perfect harmony divine,

A reflection of the unity we strive,

To be one body, with hearts that thrive.

The Prophet's words, a guiding light,

"Al-Hajj 'Arafah", a profound sight,

A moment of devotion, a moment of might,

When the cosmos bows, in submission bright.

The Night of 'Arafah, a night so dear,

When Allah frees, and wipes away fear,

The moon rises high, a symbol so bright,

Of the believer's heart, illuminated by devotion's light.

As Eid al-Adha dawns, the moon's soft fade,

A reminder of the sacrifice that's made,

Ibrahim's story, a tale of faith so true,

A reflection of the love, that we hold anew.

Oh, whisper of the gibbous moon,

A celestial reminder, of the Day of 'Arafah soon,

A call to unity, a call to love,

A reflection of the divine, sent from above.

The Celestial Symphony: The Moon of Arafat and the Unity of Creation in Divine Wisdom

On the evening of 4th June 2025 (8th Dhul Hijjah 1446), as the gibbous moon glows above the horizon at 18:24, its luminous presence is not merely an astronomical phenomenon but a celestial call to the believers—a cosmic reminder of the infinite wisdom embedded in the signs of Allah. The moon, suspended between earth and heaven, casts its glow upon the sands of ‘Arafat, the plains of all Africa, and the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, uniting the Ummah under a single celestial dome. It is a mirror reflecting the divine order, a silent herald of the Day of ‘Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah 1446 / 5th June 2025) South Africa, when the supplications of millions ascend like constellations towards the Throne of the Most Merciful.

"Hajj is ‘Arafah" – The Hadith and the Metaphysics of Presence

The Prophet (ﷺ) declared, "Al-Hajj ‘Arafah" (: Sunan Ibn Majah 3015), a statement that transcends its apparent simplicity to unveil a profound ontological truth. ‘Arafah is not merely a location or a ritual; it is the crystallization of existence itself—the moment when the slave stands bare before the *Creator*, stripped of worldly distinctions, united in the recognition of *divine majesty*.

The Unity of Creation: A Reflection of Divine Tawhid

Allah says: "And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you—when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together, and you became, by His favor, brothers." (*Surah Āli ‘Imrān 3:103)

This verse is not merely a call to social cohesion but a metaphysical imperative—the "rope of Allah" is the divine thread that weaves through all creation, binding the celestial bodies in their orbits, the atoms in their dance, and the hearts of believers in transcendent unity.

"Have They Not Pondered the Creation of Allah?" – The Cosmic Reflection

Allah challenges humanity: "Have they not contemplated the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that Allah has created?" (Surah Al-A’rāf 7:185)

To witness the moon on ‘Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah 1446 / 5th June 2025) Makkah Mount Arafat is to witness a divine sign—an invitation to ascend beyond the material and perceive the underlying *unity (tawhid) that permeates existence.

The Night of ‘Arafah: When the Cosmos Bows in Submission

On the evening of 5th June 2025 (9th Dhul Hijjah 1446), as the sun sets over the plains of ‘Arafah, the moon rises once more, now fuller, brighter—a symbol of the believer whose heart has been illuminated by the mercy of standing in devotion.

The *Prophet (ﷺ)* said, "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafah." (Sahih Muslim 1348)

The Moon as a Mirror of the Heart

As Eid al-Adha (10th Dhul Hijjah 1446 / 6th June 2025) dawns, the moon wanes, but its light remains etched in the souls of those who witnessed it. The sacrifice of Ibrahim (a.s) is reenacted, not merely as ritual, but as the ultimate act of unity—the surrender of the self to the Divine Will.

Just as the moon reflects the sun, the Muslim must reflect the light of the Prophet (ﷺ). Just as the celestial bodies move in perfect harmony, the Ummah must move as one body. And just as the universe expands in divine order, so too must the hearts of believers expand in love, wisdom, and unity.
